Just as easy to organise but around 10x the cost at 3000 baht.You can also join the minibus to Koh Lanta from Krabi or Aonang, which I’ve also seen quoted at around 400 baht.It takes around 70 minutes to Koh Phi Phi and four hours to Phuket.
Booked through Banana Beach Resort, the private minibus cost THB2500 and also included the 10 minute car ferry across from the mainland to Ko Lanta. You can arrange a pickup with your accommodation or head directly to the pier.There is also a more expensive speedboat option from around 1000 baht to Phuket.Looks amazing! A relaxed spot in the middle of the western coast of Koh Lanta’s largest island, Klong Khong is one of the best beaches for budget travellers; basic beach bungalows help cost-conscious travellers to spend less.The abundance of beach bars make it one of the island’s top places for partying too, though the parties are more likely to be chilled-out affairs than raucous all-nighters. My friends stayed at Klong Nin Beach which sounds dreamy.I described the four main beaches above but with a scooter you can go further South and find your own deserted beach too.There are many chilled out beach bars and restaurants along the coast, particularly along Long Beach, who will leave you in peace to enjoy their seating even if you only buy one drink. Though I do spend the majority of my solo travels alone, it’s funny how occasionally I will forever associate beautiful places with the superbly kind strangers I met there.My pick up was 8:20am and I arrived back at my guesthouse around 4pm.The speed boat trips will leave you with longer to enjoy the activities as they get you to each island quicker. #FarawayFilesThe elephant sanctuary was a definite highlight. Quite a trek to get there, but totally worth it I stayed on Koh Lanta in my 20s and it was a gorgeous island, you sure make it look great for families. But you don’t have to get sucked into the package holiday bubble. What a fantastic idea it was to visit Koh Lanta with kids!We based ourselves at Klaong Dao Beach, on the north east coastline of Ko Lanta. Will definitely bear it in mind (*adds to ever growing bucket list) lolHa! It really is wonderful for families. An oh-so-cool Jack Sparrow look-alike warmly welcomed us off the beach and into the Reggae Bar on Klong Dao Beach; the chilled-out hippy vibe immediately transporting us back to our pre-kids backpacker days. Great place What beautiful beaches! Perfectly romantic for couples or a lazy retreat for friends in need of a break, I also felt incredibly comfortable there as a solo traveller. Beyond sweet. For some reason, although it is such a popular destination I have not yet had the pleasure to visit.
